Baħar By Lara Vella Brings Malta’s Sea To Life On Canvas

Malta’s very own artist Lara Vella is inviting everyone to take a deep dive into her latest exhibition, BAĦAR, now open at the Malta Postal Museum & Arts Hub on Archbishop Street.
The collection celebrates the Mediterranean Sea in all its moods, colours, and reflections, from blazing sunsets to calm ripples and the easy rhythm of island life.
The exhibition features a vibrant series of acrylic paintings inspired by Malta’s crystal waters and the intimate bond locals share with the sea.
Vella captures everything from sailboats and ducks gliding on the surface, to the warm glow of summer evenings and the taste of seafood that defines Maltese seaside living. Her work isn’t just about the sea itself, but the emotions, memories, and movement it brings.
BAĦAR marks Vella’s fifth solo exhibition, and her second at the MPM Arts Hub, following her studies in Fine Arts and History of Art at the University of Malta, and a Master’s at Florence’s Accademia d’Arte.
The exhibition runs until Friday 7th November, and entry is free during museum hours.
All artworks are also available for sale, perfect for anyone looking to bring a touch of Maltese summer into their home.
