Boris Johnson stopped over for a brief visit yesterday after an official trip to Libya. The UK Secretary for Foreign Affairs is reported to have discussed Brexit as well as issues on immigration with Malta’s Foreign Minister, Carmelo Abela.

Previously in Tripoli, Mr Johnson is reported to have promised Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj almost €10 million in aiding Libya against terror attacks.

While in Malta, Mr Johnson had a private meeting with Carmelo Abela. Relations between both countries were discussed, however Minister Abela reported in a tweet that the UK and Malta share a “special relationship”.

No mention was made of the British tabloid backlash faced by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in recent weeks, following his comments on wishing to see Brexit reversed and his friendship with Tony Blair.
