The deputy mayor of Marsaskala has called on Animal Welfare and the police to investigate what she believes could be the the grisly burned remains of a dog in her locality.

“I cannot believe my eyes this morning. What a sickening act! A dog burned in Inwadar Zone. Why?” Janice Falzon asked as she shared an image of the shocking discovery.

She continued to say that Animal Welfare had been notified and were heading to the site to confirm whether the dog was microchipped or not. Police were also looking into any possible CCTV of the area to give further clues as to what happened exactly.

Members of the Cleaning Department had also been notified about the remains and are on their way to remove them.

Many people were shocked and concerned about what may have led to the burned remains

One person said: “there are monsters walking among us!” while another said “I can only hope it was already dead.”

The authorities will now be investigating what happened to the dog, and whether its owner can be traced or not.
