Chucky Takes On Every Character In Hilarious Solo Panto ‘Jack And The Beanstalk’
After last year’s smash-hit take on Beauty and the Beast, Malta’s favourite festive troublemakers are back, and they’re going bigger, camper, and crazier than ever.
This Christmas, Spazju Kreattiv will host Chucky’s Solo Panto: Jack and The Beanstalk, a one-person extravaganza packed with satire, chaos, and pure panto magic.
Written and directed by Vikesh Godhwani, the mind behind Panto in the Dark and Mid-Djarju ta’ Student fi Skola Tal-Knisja, staring the one and only Chucky Bartolo, Malta’s iconic drag queen and the unmistakable Voice of Love Island Malta.
Expect a riot of pop songs, sharp political digs, outrageous audience interaction, and surprise guests popping up at each performance. With Chucky at the centre of it all, the show promises high camp, theatrical drama, and relentless laughter, a festive spectacle that’s as unhinged as it is unforgettable.
Director Vikesh Godhwani says this year they’ve turned the madness up several notches.
“Last year we were testing the waters with the solo panto format, but after its success, we’ve dialled up the chaos. We’re doing things never attempted in this space before,” he explained.
“Jack and the Beanstalk offers the perfect chance for satire, today’s giants wield more power than ever, and this story lets us go after them panto-style. I can’t wait.”
Chucky is just as excited to return to the stage.
“It’s always exciting to bring drag to Malta in new formats,” Bartolo said. “We push boundaries while keeping everything people love about panto. Working with Vikesh again is a joy, we definitely bring out the best in each other.”
Behind the scenes, an all-star creative team is bringing the magic to life, including lighting designer Andre Micallef, sound designer Aleandro Spiteri Monsigneur, vocal coach Sean Borg, and choreographers Deedee Clark and Nicole Galea. Costumes, of course, are designed by Chucky.
With a blend of magic, mischief, and a delightfully X-rated twist, Chucky’s Solo Panto: Jack and The Beanstalk is shaping up to be Malta’s wildest Christmas tradition yet.
