Around 1,000 Duplicate Cheques Have Been Accidentally Issued Around Malta
The Commissioner for Revenue has recently informed the public about an error that occurred during the printing process of tax refund cheques.
Due to this oversight, 1,000 duplicate cheques were printed and sent out.
The majority of the affected recipients reside in Marsaxlokk, with 952 duplicate cheques being sent to individuals there.
The remaining 48 cheques were posted to people living in Żebbuġ. The Commissioner has told the public that action is being taken to resolve the issue and mitigate any potential financial impact.
In the coming days, those who received duplicate cheques will be contacted via mail, with instructions on how to return the extra cheque.
All relevant banks about the error and instructed them to issue a stop payment on these cheques. This measure will prevent any possible misuse of the duplicate cheques.
