Company Given Ultimatum After Photos Of Shocking Concrete Spill On Historic Valletta Bastions Surface Online

The construction company behind a concrete spill on the Valletta bastions has been identified by local enforcement. They have been given 48 hours to clean the damage they’ve caused after the Valletta local council sent police to investigate.
The bastions found near the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta were covered in a thick coat of liquid concrete after developers nearby poured the extra concrete down a culvert.

However, the culvert did not lead to the sewage system or the sea, but to the face of the bastion that is above a number of boathouses in lower Valletta.

This oversight led to the concrete drying all over the historic bastions. The company must now clean it up within 48-hours or face further contraventions.
The mayor of Valletta Alexiei Dingli said that the concrete could very well damage the bastions, as well as the underlying water system.
“If it becomes blocked, you can’t just flush it out. You’d have to break-up the road and clear out the drains manually,” he said.
