Company Involved In Miriam Pace’s Death Appears Alongside Aaron Farrugia On Three-Year Anniversary Of Tragedy
On the three-year anniversary of Miriam Pace’s death, Transport Minister Aaron Farrugia visited a €1.5 million project site alongside one of the contractors involved in the construction project which caused her death.
Ludwig Dimech’s company, LK Ltd, involved in Pace’s death, was recently entrusted by the government as one of the contractors set to carry out a massive infrastructural project.
The project, which has been ongoing for a while, was visited by Transport Minister Farrugia during a visit he paid earlier today, along Triq is-Sejba in Mqabba.
Photos sent by the Department of Information confirm that LK Ltd was present today during the announcement of the project.
Speaking with Lovin Malta, Infrastructure Malta CEO Ivan Falzon confirmed that LK Ltd is one of the contractors on the project, set to overlook the civil works.
Meanwhile, the legal case against Dimech has been stalled for quite some time, while the architect involved in the tragedy filed over 100 planning applications since her death.
Architects Roderick Camilleri and Anthony Mangion, together with excavation contractor Ludwig Dimech and construction worker Nicholas Spiteri, pleaded not guilty to involuntary murder.
Camilleri and Mangion were found guilty of involuntary homicide and involuntary damage to third-party property, as well as causing the death due to negligence.
While Camilleri was initially sentenced to a €10,000 fine and 480 hours of community service, a suspended sentence was handed down after an appeal was lodged against the previous sentence.
Meanwhile, the case against Dimech and Spiteri is still pending due to a backlog in jury trials.
Do you think contractors should be entrusted with government projects while they have pending court cases?
