The shocking story of a decomposing corpse in a home in St Paul’s Bay has taken another turn after authorities found the dead body of a dog while clearing the home.

Officials from Malta SPCA came across the dead dog while collecting four pet cats from the residence. While gathering the cats, the dead dog was found under the bed, TVM reported.

The dog, a chihuahua, belonged to Janet Harvey, the woman who was found decomposing in a shocking find after being reportedly dead for three months.

Moira Delia, along with Malta SPCA and police officers, worked to remove the four remaining cats, and have placed safeguards in the home in case other pets are still alive. She also said that the dog had died from a broken heart, since food had been left out by the husband.

Moira Delia will be speaking about the rescued cats on tonight’s episode of Animal Dairies at 6:30pm on TVM.

The body of Mrs Harvey was found after the British High Commission alerted the police that she was missing leading to the Civil Protection Department making the discovery this week.

The couple’s neighbours had reported a “foul smell” nearby, and did not know that Mrs Harvey had died.

Mrs Harvey’s body was found decomposing under a number of sheets and blankets on a small bed in the residence. Her husband, who was arrested in a nearby pub, has been taken to Mount Carmel.
