‘Disgusting Behaviour’: Racist Remarks Written On Birgu Bus Stop Bench

Lovin Malta received images of a bus stop bench in Birgu with derogatory and racist remarks scribbled on it which read “India stink” and “India go home”.

“Woke up to go to the gym this morning and found this at the Riche Bus Stop in Birgu,” the individual who sent the images told the newsroom, adding that this behaviour is “disgusting”.

Just last week, it was confirmed that there is a higher number of Indian workers in Malta than from any other foreign country, with figures published by Finance Minister Clyde Caruana following a PQ by PN MP Graziella Galea showing that there were 13,158 Indian nationals are registered as working in Malta in July 2023.
