The investment in the health sector in Gozo continues with an investment of over €7 million in new ambulances at Gozo General Hospital. This was announced by the Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela.

It was explained how the latest investment in ambulances extends over a number of years, indicating the need for Gozo to be equipped with a sufficient number of new ambulances to meet the needs of Gozitans. The new emergency ambulances conform to safety standards that enhance the overall quality of service and ensure safety for both personnel and patients.

Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained that with the arrival of the first two ambulances out of six, Gozo will now be equipped with high-quality ambulances equipped with advanced medical technology, essential to providing quality care.

He emphasised how the latest medical equipment and supplies in the ambulances can significantly improve patient care in critical situations. Advanced life support systems, defibrillators, and monitoring equipment are crucial for stabilising patients while en route to Gozo General Hospital.

The Minister further explained how ambulances like these also have advanced communication systems that allow better coordination with ambulance control rooms, hospitals, and other emergency services. This ensures better management in emergency situations. Moreover, they are designed with materials and characteristics that enhance infection control, which is especially important in the context of pandemics and infectious diseases.

“This investment continues to demonstrate the government’s commitment to the health sector in Gozo,” concluded Minister Jo Etienne Abela.
