Eye Sea You: Mqabba Exhibition Takes Visitors On Artistic Odyssey Into Life’s Depth
A new exhibition at Mqabba’s Il-Kamra ta’ Fuq is preparing to take visitors on a mesmerising artistic odyssey where the sea’s depths and life’s intricacies intertwine.
‘Eye Sea You’ by Trevor Diacono and curated by Melanie Erixon presents works where the sea’s depths and life’s intricacies intertwine. It opened on 10th November and will be available for viewing until 3rd December.
This exhibition is a testament to the profound connection between land and sea, and the ever-evolving boundaries of human perception which can be observed in this morphing of man and sea creatures, elevating the ordinary to the extraordinary.
Trevor Diacono’s ‘Fish Face’ collection takes center stage, with each of the seven sculptures offering a unique expression and a vivid narrative on the multifaceted nature of life.
The exhibition features a diverse range of works across different media, including rust on metal pieces, all of which encapsulate various aspects of the sea. This theme is a distinctive and recurring motif in the artist’s body of work.
From sculptures of sea creatures that undergo a surreal transformation, almost resembling caricatures, to a series of hanging sculptures that convey the scenic and rugged nature of the sea in the form of ‘waves,’ the exhibition’s aim is to spark curiosity.
It invites visitors to challenge the conventional and emerge with a fresh perspective on the world. Within every expression, wave, and rusted texture, there lies a unique narrative of beauty and connection, waiting to be discovered.
