The notorious winter weather has been blowing away all our plans lately, and forecasts are showing it could persist.

Gale winds were reported to be sweeping through the country this Christmas week, with gusts up to Force 10 accompanied by scattered rain showers as well as potential hail.

In fact, some areas in central Malta reported rain and hail this morning, however, the primary aggressor throughout the entire island is still the high winds. With temperatures set to drop as low as 8°C, Maltese residents are in for a chilly week.

Ferry services are already bracing for these worsening conditions, namely Gozo Channel Operations who announced that delays are expected and that commuters are urged to stay updated with their respective services.

On top of that, Virtu Ferries, who have been cancelling scheduled trips throughout the past week, have once again announced an influx of cancellations.

According to the transport company, all trips scheduled in the next three days, from today till the 25th, have been cancelled, with extra trips set to happen in the subsequent days to compensate.
