Everyone’s favourite South-East Asian vehicle has just arrived in Malta!

As part of a government initiative to promote active ageing, elderly people can now call up a tuk-tuk to drive them to their destination for free. The service, called SilverT, is currently only available in Mosta, Gżira and Żurrieq, with one tuk-tuk allocated for each town and another on standby.

There are a number of terms though. The tuk-tuks can only be used for destinations within the town, are only available from 7am till 2pm and must be booked two days in advance by calling 2169 55 44.

Once the six-month pilot project is over, the government will assess its success before deciding whether to implement it in other localities.
