Gozitan law student Chloë Cauchi, aged 21, has become the first Maltese female to be elected board member of the European Youth Forum.

Earlier today, the European Youth Forum announced their newly-elected board, revealing that the National Youth Council of Malta (KNŻ)’s International Officer, Chloë Cauchi, was one of the appointees.

With over 100 member organisations, including Malta’s KNŻ, the European Youth Forum stands as the largest regional youth organisation in the world dedicated to deepening European integration and fostering the development of youth work globally.

KNŻ has been a steadfast partner of the European Youth Forum for quite some time, playing a substantial role in various initiatives concerning climate change, youth rights such as Vote 16, European Youth Test, and the banning of unpaid internships.

That being said, Chloë’s election marks a historic first for Malta and KNŻ, with the young Gozitan being the first Maltese female representative to join the board.

Speaking to Lovin Malta, Chloë said, “I am extremely enthusiastic about the upcoming mandate and deeply grateful for the remarkable support from the member organisations of the European Youth Forum.”

“It is a genuine privilege to represent and advocate for young people in Europe, and I eagerly look forward to fulfilling this role.”

“KNŻ nominated me as a candidate for the board this year with the support of the Southern Youth Councils,” the youth activist told the newsroom, explaining that following “months of campaigning”, the board was elected this morning with the General Assembly happening as we speak in Mollina, Spain.

This isn’t Chloë’s first experience with youth advocacy and representing our small island on the international stage. In fact, her tenure as a KNŻ board member for over three years and her former role as MaltMUN president has afforded her a number of opportunities abroad.

Congratulations, Chloë and KNŻ! Share this with someone who is also passionate about youth advocacy
