Greenfields Vocalist Carmen Tanti Dies At 75-Years-Old
Malta woke up to devastating news this morning as ex-vocalist Carmen Tanti has passed away, just a month after turning 75 years-old.
Carmen was apart of a famous local trio, Greenfields. The group consisted of Carmen and her husband Joe Tanti playing alongside guitarist Charles Bajada, a mutual friend.
Unfortunately, Chris would later pass away in 1990 and the Tantis would lead the group by themselves.
The group has released so many classic gems such as ‘Il-Vapur Tal-Art’, ‘Il-Banda T’Indri’ and the iconic and mostly beloved ‘Il-Karozzin’
Pioneering the folk-music theme for years upon years, the group had become an iconic staple where they would appear on various TV shows throughout their careers. However, here’s what would be the group’s first TV appearance.
The singer had been married to Joe for over 49 years – in fact, the couple was supposed to celebrate their anniversary in 5 days.
Carmen was not only known for her outstanding vocals but also her kind heart and outgoing character and will surely be missed by the Maltese.
Lovin Malta sends its condolences to Carmen’s family.
