‘He Died In My Arms’: Tributes Flood In For Matthew Caruana, Beloved Iklin Games Shop Owner
Tributes are flooding in for Matthew Caruana, who was well known for his love and dedication to comics and games, and the beloved owner of ICC Malta, a gaming shop in Iklin that had been open for over 18 years.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I have to write this post. Matthew sadly passed away this morning in my arms with our family by his side,” his wife Daniela Caruana wrote on his Facebook profile.
“He fought a long and hard battle… but now it was time for him to rest.”
“Words can’t describe how much I will miss him. He was the love and light of my life and without him, life will not be the same. He lit up every room with his smile and happy banter.”
“I know that Matthew touched many lives, and I’m devastated at having to write this post. He was well-loved and will be missed by many,” she said.
Back on 1st June, Matthew had announced that he will be switching his shop to solely online due to his health situation.
“Rest in peace, dear Matthew. Shocking that you left this world at such a young age! I can’t count the number of games I bought from you, always with the best service. Thanks my friend for being such a gentleman!” one friend said.
“Gone too soon Matthew, God has another angel. Until we meet again brother… gonna miss you,” another said.
“Rest in peace my friend, I can’t believe the news. You were such a kindhearted man who always wanted to help others.”
The funeral will be held at Lija Parish Church next Wednesday at 3.30pm.
