Head-On Collision In Ħaż-Żebbuġ Ends In Ball Of Fire

A head-on collision in Żebbuġ ended up with one car going up in flames and two teenagers being hospitalised.

The incident, which happened at around 2.20pm on Angelo Melilli Road, involved a Toyota Auris driven by a 19-year-old boy from Ħal-Qormi and a Volkswagen Golf driven by a 57-year-old man from Ħaż-Żebbuġ.

Footage from the scene sent to Lovin Malta shows not only the aftermath of the crash, but also the moment dark smoke started emerging from the wreck of the Toyota, before it caught fire in the middle of the road.

Officials from the Civil Protection Department were also filmed arriving on site to put out the fire, with the police telling Lovin Malta that the teenage driver and one of his two 19-year-old passengers had to be taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

At this point, however, their condition has not yet been ascertained.

Meanwhile, the Golf driver and his 20-year-old passenger were uninjured and did not require hospitalisation.
