Heavy Traffic After Car Overturns And Reportedly Catches Fire Near Lija Cemetery
A car has overturned and reportedly caught fire near the cemetery in Lija.
Police officers as well as members of the Civil Protection Department and an ambulance were called onto the scene at around 2:30pm today, TVM reported.
The accident was caused after a car driving at a high speed from Mosta to Lija reportedly drove on the wrong side and hit four cars. The car ended up overturning some 50 metres away from where it hit the other cars.
One person has been taken to hospital for medical assistance.
The road in the direction of Mosta from Lija has been closed, while heavy traffic has accumulated in the road heading from Mosta towards Lija. Drivers are being advised to avoid the area for the time being.
