Here’s Who Scored Big At The 2023 Malta Architecture and Spatial Planning Award

Bothouse in San Ġwann, Villa Anna Teresa Retirement Complex in St Julian’s, and The Farsons Brewhouse project in Mrieħel scored big in the 2023 Malta Architecture and Spatial Planning (MASP) Awards.

Many awards were handed out on Saturday for restoration efforts, for open spaces, as well as for outstanding projects put forward by students.

Ever since 2019, the Planning Authority has been organising these awards, with the 2023 edition taking place last Saturday.

The aim of the awards is to recognise architects, interior designers, university students, and anyone who has made an outstanding contribution over the years through research, education, theory, or practice of architecture and the built environment.

The jury panel awarded the President’s Award to Prof. Richard England for his outstanding contributions to the education, theory, and practice of architecture, as well as his distinguished lifetime service to the profession.

Bothouse in San Ġwann by SON architecture was the winner of the Residential Architecture Award at the 2023, with the jury saying that the “project offers superior and unexpected spatial solutions to the brief, making it stand out as a winning entry.”

Meanwhile, the Farsons Brewhouse project in Mrieħel, led by Ritchie Studio, won the Rehabilitation and Conservation Award.
