Hundreds Mourn The Loss Of Dun Victor Grech As State Funeral Begins
The state funeral for the beloved Monsignor Dun Victor Grech, founder of the Caritas foundation, began moments ago, seeing the attendance of hundreds at the St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta
In a funeral mass celebrated by Archbishop Charles J Scicluna, Grech was given a final honourable farewell following a procession from the Cathedral from the Chapel of the Therapeutic Community Centre in San Blas where his body laid in repose.
In attendance are political figures, like Prime Minister Robert Abela, President Myriam Spiteri Debono, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and PN Leader Bernard Grech.
As Director of Caritas Malta, he introduced professional social services, launched Malta’s first therapeutic community for drug rehabilitation, and established residential shelters for those in need, and has since become a well known and beloved figure among the population.
