When it comes to cartoons, children are really spoilt for choice with options. But when was the last time you watched a really good Maltese one?

Id-Denfil, that Maltese book we all studied as children, has been transformed into funny and educational cartoon shorts that are good for the whole family to enjoy while learning our beloved national language.

Produced by Turi Animation Studio with the support of Arts Council Malta, the animated series is part of a mission to pay tribute to the book, while at the same time teaching and entertaining young children, especially since the book is no longer in use.

Collaborating with Lovin Malta, id-Denfil will be coming to your screens over the coming weeks.

Each episode, intricately animated and set around Malta, is around three minutes and comes with subtitles in Maltese.

In the first of the series – “Twegiba f’Waqtha” – follows a young boy haggling with a baker about the price of bread with a hilarious outcome.

“We hope that id-Denfil will inspire, teach and entertain the upcoming generation whilst brining back nice memories to the ones that grew up reading id-Denfil,” Chris Spiteri from Turi Animations Studio said.

“Furthermore, we’re quite proud that despite of all the challenges faced, our first Maltese cartoon has been produced, aired and now streaming publicly.”
