‘Ikber Magħna’ Activities For Children Will Start Being Held At Valletta Local Council
Valletta children will now have a safe-space closer to home to conduct their after school activities thanks to the latest partnership for the ‘Ikber Magħna’ project.
The ‘Ikber Magħna’ initiative provides a safe space for children between the ages of seven and ten to conduct their studies, homework and other extra curricular activities after school hours with the help of dedicated volunteers.
The president of the Optimist Club of Malta, Reuben Buttigieg and Valletta Local Council Mayor, Olaf McKay signed a Memorandum of Understanding yesterday evening allowing activities related to ‘Ikber Magħna’ to be held at the Valletta local council.
Up until the new agreement, the initiative took place at the Foundation for Social Welfare Services in Santa Venera, a representative of which was also present for the signing, further continuing their support to the project.
“The venue allocated for this project is equipped with the necessary tools which can be used by the children,” the organisation said in an official statement, “Educational extra-curriculum activities and a number of talks are also an integral part of the project, encouraging these youngsters to flourish beyond school hours and provide them with valuable character-building experiences, which will help them well into the future.”
‘Ikber Magħna’ sessions will be held every Monday and Thursday between 3.15pm and 5.15pm at the Valletta Local Council.
