‘Is Infrastructure Malta Doing The Surveying?’: Swieqi Resident Concerned Over Cracks On Bridge

Activist and Swieqi Local Council candidate, Jordan Galea Pace, expressed concern over the cracks and dip on the Swieqi bridge.
Earlier this week on a social media post, visible cracks showed the worrying state of the road.
Galea Pace, voiced that the bridge wasn’t built to take the heavy load which it is currently enduring. “With four new construction sites being built simultaneously, the amount of trucks has increased in the area”, he said.

Concerned residents have spoken to the candidate and asked if Infrastructure Malta are taking the matter seriously.
“Is Infrastructure Malta doing the surveying?”, Galea Pace asks.
Arnold Cassola also flagged this issue on his social media platforms.
In February 2024, Infrastructure Malta announced the development of the Swieqi – St Julian’s Junction, which is a significant project that will allow better traffic flow and more accessibility from/to Swieqi and St Julian’s.
The newsroom contacted the authority and is currently awaiting a reply.
