Malta Celebrates Former Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami’s 91st Birthday

Former President of Malta and Prime Minister, Eddie Fenech Adami celebrates his 91st birthday today, with overwhelming congratulations from the public.

Since the rise of his political career with the Nationalist Party in 1961, Fenech Adami eventually becoming its leader in 1977 succeeding Giorgio Borg Olivier.

Fenech Adami served as Prime Minister from 1987 to 1996 and again from 1998 to 2004, during which he implemented various economic and social reforms – milestones he is widely acclaimed for till this day.

He’s credited for being instrumental in Malta’s accession to the European Union and in 2004, he was appointed as the country’s seventh president, a position he held until 2009.

His son and fellow Nationalist MP, Beppe Fenech Adami, announced his father’s birthday with a heartwarming post on Facebook.

“To this day you remain the person that despite every challenge, never gives up, never complains, and always strives to be the least burden on everyone,” he wrote, “You remain driven by the value of truth in everything you do. You stay determined to fulfil your duty every day. Keep going, champ!”

In the comments, Minister for the National Heritage, Owen Bonnici, shared his own touching words and appreciation for Fenech Adami:

“Heartfelt wishes to Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami, and from the other side of the political spectrum, a sincere thank you for all you have done for my country—for our country.”

Fellow Nationalist MP and MEP, David Casa also pitched in a heartwarming birthday wish, showing his gratitude.

“It is the values that Eddie believes in that we continue to fight for today. Eddie remains a guiding figure. What our forefathers stood for is once again being challenged and obstructed.”

Meanwhile, European Parliament President, Roberta Metsola also shared some birthday wishes on Facebook along with a photo of her with Fenech Adami.
