Malta Ranked 12th Safest Country In The World
Out of 143 countries worldwide, our island has been ranked the 12th safest country in the world, with a small downgrade from last years 10th safest ranking.
Looking at the details, Malta ranks 7th out of 31 in Europe, with Hong Kong SAR, China at 10th and the United Arab Emirates at 11th, just ahead of us.
Austria sits at 13th and Estonia at 14th, putting Malta firmly among the continent’s top performers in safety and security.

Minister for Home Affairs, Security, Reforms and Equality of Malta Byron Camilleri posted to his Facebook about the news praising the statistic as being “a result of the lowest crime rates in recent years”.
In short, Malta isn’t just a beautiful place to live and visit, it’s also one of the safest places in the world, with crime effectively under control, minimal civil conflict, and a population that overwhelmingly resolves issues without violence.
