Malta has completely revamped its LGBT+ legislation in recent years and is now recognised as a world leader in LGBT rights. However, it seems as though the country was still missing a permanent rainbow flag…until now.

Tech entrepreneur Andreas Wil Gerdes today claimed Malta’s first permanent rainbow flag, hanging it up on a flagpole at his Juno Heights permaculture garden in Marsaxlokk.

And Gerdes invited Clayton Mercieca from Malta Pride to do the honours and hoist the flag up high.

“Andreas Will Gerdes and his lovely family have decided to put up a permanent Rainbow flag at their residence, being the first one in Malta as a symbol to celebrate all forms of love,” Malta Pride said. “We are honoured to have been there to witness this with our eyes, and encourage others in all localities to follow suit to make Malta a truly inclusive country, irrespective of how one identifies.”

Is this really Malta’s first ever rainbow flag?
