Malta’s Food Courier Apps Suspend Delivery Service As Severe Storm Hits

Article Featured Image

Malta’s food courier apps Bolt and Wolt have temporarily suspended deliveries as the severe Storm Helios continues to batter the islands.

In a message on their mobile app, Wolt Food explained that “due to the inclement weather conditions”, their delivery service had been paused.

It continued to explain that their “couriers’ safety is a top priority”, with the message going on to ask users to check again in about half an hour.

Meanwhile, every single restaurant or business on Bolt Food is giving app users a “not available due to high demand” message.

Considering its app-wide unavailability and the repeating message of every single shop only offering Pick-Ups, it’s safe to assume that the courier giant has taken a similar approach.

In recent years, videos of food couriers braving flooded roads and very strong winds have gone viral, with many people highlighting how unfair this is to the workers.

Strong winds, heavy rain showers, and bitingly cold temperatures have continued to hit Malta, and are expected to do so until at least tomorrow afternoon.
