FINALLY: Malta’s YouTubers Will Start Earning Money For Their Awesome Content

Stella Cini, Grandayy and Malta’s big names on YouTube can sleep well tonight after Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri announced that the YouTube Partnership Programme will come into effect in Malta as of this Thursday.

“Malta’s YouTubers will be remunerated for their art and content produced on YouTube on par with other European youths,” he said.

Beyond allowing Malta’s YouTubers to finally start earning some money for their content, the programme will also allow those who create online material to have access to more tools and resources in order to maximise the use of their content on YouTube.

“This means an end to the discrimination faced by Maltese YouTube users—it is now going to be easier for the talent and content producers to be reached and remunerated on a national scale”

Schembri also added that the work done with Google will now ensure that the benefits that the digital economy brings about will be finally reach Maltese and Gozitan youths.

The government will also be organising an activity for YouTube users to provide further information on the YouTube Partnership Programme for Malta.
