Maltese Activist Francesca Falzon Completes London Marathon And Raises Over £7,000 For Cystic Fibrosis Research

Francesca Falzon, a Maltese cystic fibrosis activist and 2024 FreeHour Youth Awards Winner, has successfully completed the London Marathon, raising over £7,000 for cystic fibrosis research in the process.
Despite facing serious health challenges throughout the race, including constant coughing and pain, Francesca completed the full 42.2km with determination and strength.
She was supported every step of the way by her partner Lukas, who ran alongside her and helped keep her spirits high during the most difficult moments.
After finishing, Francesca shared that at the finish line, every participant — whether elite or amateur — receives the same medal, reminding everyone that effort, perseverance, and heart are what truly matter.
By race day, Francesca had surpassed her goal, raising an incredible £7,771 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition that causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. It affects more than 10,800 people in the UK.
One in 25 people carries the faulty gene that causes the condition, often without knowing it, meanwhile, in Malta, one in 20 people carry this gene.
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK charity dedicated to uniting people to stop cystic fibrosis. They fund vital research, improve care, advocate for patients, and work towards a future where everyone with CF can live without limits.
Well done Francesca!
