Maltese Film Directors Furious At Facebook Group ‘The Salott’ After Opening Minutes Are Leaked Online
Maltese feature-length film Limestone Cowboy has attracted a great deal of hype in the nearly half a decade since it was first announced, but most people have never actually been able to watch any of it. That is, until the first four minutes of the film were all uploaded onto popular Facebook group The Salott last night. Now, it looks like it was one big misunderstanding that has left the film producers absolutely livid.
The full first four minutes of the feature-length film were uploaded onto the 53,000-strong Facebook group by The Salott’s own admin, Moira Palmier.
“The Salott were entrusted with the opening of Limestone Cowboy as part of the press kit for review, and they had no permission to release the material online,” the film’s producers announced on the official Facebook page earlier today. “This is a serious breach of trust and lack of respect towards Maltese artists in general.”
When asked whether they intend to sue the Facebook group, the film’s producers told Lovin Malta they’re “considering any and all options”
Two years after the release of its trailer, hype for the film is still fever-pitch, and many are rightly so excited for it Limestone Cowboy to finally premiere on Saturday 13th April.
Producers Take2 must be proud of the final result… but not so proud to have it leaked out like this just days ahead of a premiere years in the making.
And while people are not quite sure where they sit on the fence on this latest controversy, it did seem like it made everyone impossibly more excited for the film’s release!
