Maltese Hobbyist Was Buying Parts For Wooden Motorcycle When He Was Murdered

In a terrible turn of events, it seems that last night’s murder victim, Lino Mangion, known as Il-Pewx, may have not been the target at all

A talented man with a lot of hobbies, a friend of his has said that Lino had been working on building a wooden motorcycle when he went to the fateful store to obtain some more materials when tragedy struck for him.

“He was working on a motorcycle made of wood, and he needed some tapestry…most of the parts of his motorbike were made of wood,” Lovin Malta was told.

Lino had entered Raymond’s Upholstery in Mdina Road, Attard, last night at 6:20pm, on his way home to his Qormi home, where he was looking for some wood for his the seat of his motorcycle.

He had just left his cousin’s house, Judge Robert Mangion, where he was helping him fix something in the house. 

Shortly after entering the shop however, a gunman walked in and shot both Lino Mangion as well as shop owner Raymond Grima. Lino was killed by those shots. 

Raymond is still fighting his grievous injuries in hospital. The motive is as yet unknown.

As an active member of his local community, being involved in several cultural and traditional fields, his loss is hitting home today for many people who knew him.

Lino was known for his talents in various fields, from woodworks to his work in the Festa of San Gorg to fireworks.

There has been an outpouring of grief online from friends, family, as well as admirers of his work.

His daughter also took to social media to express her grief.

It is being reported that the police had taken four men into custody, and that police have pinpointed one of the men as the main suspect.
