Maltese Model Set To Summit Highest Peak In North Africa To Raise Funds For Schools In Ethiopia
From catwalks to mountain trails, former Miss Universe Malta 2022 and renowned model, Maxine Formosa Gruppetta is taking on the highest peak in North Africa, all for a good cause.
Maxine and a group of daring friends are set to scale Mount Toubkal in Morocco in May, all the while hosting a fundraiser to build four new classrooms for a school in Ethiopia.
Starting 17th May, the expedition will last five days and will act more than just a personal achievement for Maxine, but as a “heartfelt mission” to raise funds for the SiGMA Foundation who is spearheading the initiative that will help build these schools.
“The children in this community face unimaginable challenges, and I feel deeply fortunate for the life I’ve had. This is my chance to help give them better opportunities and a brighter future,” Maxine said, ”But I can’t do it alone—I need your support to make this dream a reality.”
The 4,167-metre high behemoth sees thousands of daring climbers every year, with fluctuating weather conditions based on the time of the year, making the trek all the more challenging.
However, with the guidance of a seasoned guide and with friends by your side, you’re bound to forget about all of that and focus solely on the beauty of the panoramic views of the beautiful rocky plateau surrounding the area.
Every little helps, as every contribution adds up to change these children’s lives. At the time of writing, €285 have been raised out of the €1,000 goal.
And with a little over 100 days left until the fundraiser closes, there’s more than enough time to help make a difference.
