There’s a chance that your water supply might randomly turn off or your water pressure might become very weak over the next 24 hours following an incident in the Tal-Balal area involving a private contractor, the Water Service Corporation has announced.

“Consumers are advised that they may experience no water or low water pressure for the next 24 hours. The Water Services Corporation is investigating damage to its infrastructure caused by a private contractor. The WSC will keep the public updated about the severity, nature and duration of this incident through regular news updates,” they said.

The Tal-Balal area is currently undergoing extensive road expansion works. The water shortages could affect all parts of Malta.

While the WSC is working to reverse any damage caused to Malta’s water infrastructure, an alternative water supply has already been set up to cover all bases, meaning you probably won’t even notice anything.

“The Water Services Corporation would like to inform the general public that an alternative distribution system has been set up and if things go as planned no interruptions will be necessary until repairs are fully completed,” they said in an update .
