MCAST Students Launch Petition For The Release Of Marks And Feedback As MUT Agreement Is Yet To Be Reached
MCAST students are once again calling for action as the disputes between lecturers and governmental bodies carries on into the scholastic year.
A petition was launched last Saturday, 2nd November, to help amplify the voices of students who are demanding the release of marks and academic feedback.
“If assignments are not released, the final certificate will not reflect our academic achievement and this will make our diplomas and degrees less desirable when applying for jobs,” the petition states, “Furthermore, some students are still awaiting their dissertation marks, without which they will be unable to graduate.”
The latest addition of directives, which have been in effect since the beginning of the scholastic year, have further limited students’ communication with tutors and lecturers and withheld academic feedback almost entirely, leaving students in uncertainty regarding their progress.
“The MUT, Minister of Education, Principal and CEO of MCAST, and the Government will not come to an agreement, and the lecturer/student strikes have been for nothing,” the petition continued, “If we speak on our behalf in a larger quantity together, we will be heard.”
The petition has raised over 800 signatures and counting since its launch, with students and lecturers alike voicing their frustration in comments of the petition page.
“MCAST students are not pleased with the circumstances we are being put through and wish for everyone to come to an agreement,” the petition’s statement ended.
