Metro Malta: Official Name For Future Underground Unveiled As Trademark Application Filed
Transport Malta has officially applied to trademark the name ‘Metro Malta’ with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, signalling the beginning of what could actually turn out to be a transport game-changer for the islands.
The application comes after Prime Minister Joseph Muscat confirmed that a number of studies were being done to see whether a metro would be feasible in Malta. These studies are reportedly in an “advanced” stage. Transport Malta officially applied on Thursday, 14th of March, TVM reported.
Transport Minister Ian Borg will be giving a statement on the Metro on this evening’s programme of Dissett.
While details are scarce right now, it seems that if Malta actually builds a metro system, it will be named Metro Malta.
Many people have urged the government to look into creating a national metro system, with people such as Maltese architect Konrad Xuereb even creating his own metro system for the Maltese islands, which you can see below.
