MOAS Spreads Festive Joy By Donating 206 Panettone To Ħal Far Migrant Centre Residents
Families, children and residents have been treated to a plethora of holiday treats thanks to yet another honourable initiative by MOAS.
The Malta-based Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS), continues its decade-long commitment to fostering empathy and providing aid to the world’s most vulnerable communities in the face of global crises.
The dedicated organisation banded together with Fastdrop and LIDL to donate 206 delicious panettones to all residents of the Ħal Far migrant centre, run by the Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers (AWAS).
“By sharing these traditional Italian cakes, MOAS highlights the importance of compassion and solidarity in overcoming adversity,” MOAS spokesperson, Francesca Pierpaoli, said, “Such initiatives bring joy to individuals and raise awareness about the ongoing struggles refugee communities face.”
During the season of giving, togetherness and joy, it’s important to remember the difficulties faced by those struggling in silence. MOAS highlights the importance of empathy and kindness between communities, in order to continue making a difference in the world.
More than 200,000 lives worldwide have been successfully saved thanks to the operations conducted by the dedicated members and volunteers at MOAS. However, in the words of Director of Operations and Fundraising with MOAS, Christina Lejman, “Every act of generosity fosters a better tomorrow, no matter how large or small.”
“During these trying times, showing kindness to the most vulnerable is paramount,” said Lejman, “MOAS emphasises the importance of civil society outreach and community support through this small gesture.”
Just last month, MOAS released an comic anthology illustrating intricate sea rescue operations, life-saving efforts in the frontlines of war and the empowerment provided to minority groups internationally, which only mark a few of the many operations conducted through the years.
