Msida Local Council Remains Adamantly Against Flyover
The Msida Local Council said that it maintains its position against the flyover that will be constructed by 2027 as part of the Msida Creek Project.
Infrastructure Malta CEO Steve Ellul said that, despite objections from the local council, the project will continue ahead with the flyover – saying that this is the best way to solve traffic in the area.
In response to this, the local council made its position against the construction of this flyover “crystal clear” in an email sent to Ellul – Transport Minister Chris Bonett was cc’d. The local council said that it requested a meeting with IM “weeks ago” when it made it took an official position against the flyover but is still awaiting a date.
“The council’s job is to protect the interests of all Msida residents. And it will continue to do so.”
During a press conference yesterday, Ellul assured open and frequent dialogue between IM and the local council, saying that the finalised Msida Creek Project was radically changed after extensive discussions. However, it seems that this may not be completely true, with the local council’s statement indicating dissatisfaction at being left to wait for a meeting.
Do you think this flyover should be constructed?
