A new speed camera is set to be installed in Naxxar – and it will be giving tickets out to anyone caught driving at over 40 kilometers per hour.

A number of signposts have appeared announcing the soon-to-be installed camera in Triq San Pawl. While the camera hasn’t been installed yet, the signs bear a prominent “40” speed limit sign along with a new camera sign, indicating an incoming installation, Newsbook reported.

Surprisingly, the mayor of Naxxar Anne Marie Muscat Fenech Adami confirmed that the council hadn’t been made aware of the new speed camera, but said that it would probably be installed anyway.

If so, this means that this would become the speed camera with the lowest speed limit in Malta, after the infamous 50km speed camera in Attard.

The Attard camera is known to catch many speeding drivers, with 14,000 tickets being issued from this speed camera alone in 2015.

What do you think of the new speed camera and its location?
