New Farmers’ Market Set To Open In Ta’ Qali As Part Of A €10 Million Quality Of Life Investment
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Animal Rights, Anton Refalo, has just announced a brand new farmers’ market that will open in Ta’ Qali.
The project will be a €10 million investment as part of the ‘Pajjiż ta’ Kwalita’ initiative, to create a platform for local foods such as fruits, vegetables and artisanal products to be given their due diligence and become easily accessible to everyone.
“This market is more than just an investment for agriculture,” said Refalo, “but, it is an investment in our environment and community.”
Local farmers will be given a dedicated space of around 14,000 square metres to show off their produce and be given equal opportunity to appeal to a wider range of consumers who can be ensured that all products available are locally sourced.
“The development of this open area will be a new hub that improves the quality of life of residents and visitors alike, and it will provide a sustainable environment where people from the community can come together,” the Minister concluded.
On top of its economic and agricultural benefits, the market will include a dedicated space where visitors can lounge and eat, and even make use of the local produce if they desire.
