A newborn male baby with his umbilical cord still attached has been found abandoned on the porch of a house in Bu?ibba, One News has reported.

The baby was found in Triq il-Pijunieri, and is reportedly Caucasian. He was found at 4:30pm on Friday evening. When the baby was spotted, the Qawra police station were immediately informed and an ambulance was sent immediately for medical attention.

Dr Joe Mifsud is overseeing a magisterial inquiry, and has appointed Dr Mario Scerri as a medical expert.
