‘No One Picks Up Or Does Anything’: Valentina Rossi Vents About Ongoing Parking Permit Saga

Radio host and Malta’s Got Talent judge Valentina Rossi publicly vented about the ongoing parking permit saga earlier today, after her permit proved to be unenforceable.

This comes as Maltese authorities are currently trying to decide who’s responsible for enforcing parking permits released from local councils, after police, LESA, Transport Malta, and local councils all decided it’s not in their hands.

As it is, citizens are paying for the permit, only to then have cars park in the spaces anyway, with no authorities or government agencies taking responsibility for enforcement.

“You go through the hassle to pay and apply for a permit for people not to park due to lifter coming. People still park,” Rossi wrote in a social media post.

“Call the police, they do nothing. Call the wardens, they do not pick up. Call the local council, they do not pick up. If a warden comes and sees the road closed because of the lifter you get a fine,” she said.

Within mere hours, her post received hundreds of reactions, as citizens lament this current reality and call on authorities to provide a solution.

A commentator also shared her similar experience with permits needed for a funeral last week, where people still ended up parking, arguing that they had the right to since permits don’t mean anything.

Back in January, the law enforcement agency (LESA) confirmed that parking permits currently cannot be enforced.
