Oliver Agius Identified As Victim Of Latest Fatal Road Accident In St Paul’s Bay
Oliver Agius has been identified as the victim of Malta’s latest fatal road traffic accident, after he was run over in St Paul’s Bay.
The 90-year-old resident of St Paul’s Bay was crossing the road on Sunday afternoon when he was run over by a 47-year-old Ħamrun resident driving a Peugeot 207. Unfortunately, he died upon impact.
Agius was a proud car aficionado and a member of Malta’s Old Motors Club, who sent their condolences to his loved ones after his tragic passing.
“At Old Motors Club Malta, we are saddened by the news of the passing away of our long-time member Oliver Agius. May God grant him eternal rest in peace and courage to his loved ones in this difficult moment,” it said in a statement.
The incident occurred at around 2.20pm along Triq San Pawl on Sunday.
A medical team was called to the scene of the accident, but unfortunately, the victim was certified dead on site.
Magistrate Charmaine Galea is leading an inquiry while police investigations are still ongoing.
