Outpatients At Mater Dei Hospital To Be Granted Free Parking Starting 1st November
The Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela has announced that from 1st November, parking at Mater Dei Hospital will be made free for outpatients.
The service will be available for individuals visiting and receiving treatment at the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Hospital, radiology services or visiting for general services at the Outpatient Department. Fees will be exempted upon showing proof of appointment, a valid ID and a parking ticket at the hospital’s reception.
Every month around 55,000 people make use of services within Mater Dei Hospital, a fact that has led Minister Abela to relieve these parking fees to better accommodate for these patients.
“We believe that the government hospital is for the people, by the people,” said Jo Etienne, “That is why it is only fair that these measures in favour of Maltese and Gozitan patients will be put into effect as soon as possible.”
Following this statement, Abela said that the next step is to extend this initiative to not only the patients, but to their relatives as well.
