A substantial sum of €16,397 was raised last Sunday during the annual Run-Swim-Run event from Mosta to the Ta’ Pinu Shrine in Gozo, in aid of the Len and Jacob Wellness Fund.

Brian Galea spoke to Lovin Malta after the event, sharing the challenges he faced during this intense charity event. Throughout the swim between Malta and Gozo, he pulled his sons in a dinghy, battling the elements.

“At first, the sea was rough, but eventually it settled. However, once we passed Comino, it felt like everything changed,” he explained. “The sea turned against us. Instead of calming as expected, it became even more difficult.”

Len and Jacob weigh around 100 kilograms together, and Brian described how the waves caused the dinghy to toss him about, adding immense strain with every stroke. Alongside him were athletes Karl Cortis and Natalie Briffa Farrugia, and, with the strength of their team and support from Civil Protection, they safely made it across.

During the swim, Brian suffered multiple jellyfish stings, which went unnoticed at the time but left him struggling to sleep afterwards due to the persistent itching.

Reflecting on the event, Brian expressed his gratitude to his family and everyone who contributed to the cause.

He remains committed to organising in this annual charity event to ensure his twins receive the best possible care.
