An armed robbery in a Paola store last night left a bystander injured and has led to a search for the burglars.

Yesterday at around 8:30pm, police were informed that a theft had occurred in a shop in Triq Għajn Dwieli, Paola.

Police have confirmed that two people, armed with a "sharp and pointed object" demanded money from the cashier, a 21-year-old from Żabbar.

The robbers fled the scene after stealing an amount of cash.

A 38-year-old person, reportedly a woman, from Paola was inside the shop when the robbery occurred, and accidentally got injured. She was assisted on site by a medical team and taken to Mater Dei Hospital with an ambulance for further medical treatment after the incident.

Police investigations are on-going.
