Parents Of Minor Caught Vandalising Baħar Iċ-Ċagħaq Playground Agree To Pay For Damages
The parents of a minor recently caught vandalising a playground in Bahar Iċ-Ċagħaq have agreed to pay for the damages.
Naxxar mayor Anne Marie Muscat Fenech Adami told Lovin Malta that she filed a police report as soon as she saw footage showing a child knocking down a giant OXO board at the playground within the Santa Marija tal-Anġli garden.
“The police immediately identified him and visited his home that same day,” she said. “His parents agreed to pay all the necessary costs to repair the playground equipment and Public Works officials will now be sent on-site to evaluate the damage.”

Muscat Fenech Adami praised the police for their swift action and urged the government to devolve responsibility for the garden to the Naxxar local council.
“We have been fighting for five years to assume responsibility for this playground,” she said, confirming that discussions are underway with the Public Works Department to install CCTV cameras there.
The 1,800-square metre garden and playground was built in a previously abandoned field in front of the hamlet’s church and opened in 2012 by then-Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.
However, residents have recently warned that the park has fallen into neglect and disrepair, including damaged footpaths and overflowing garbage cans.
