Paul Caruana Galizia To Speak At International Journalism Festival In Italy On Mother’s Death

Journalist Paul Caruana Galizia will be joining some industry giants to speak at the International Journalism Festival this April in Italy.
The festival is held every April in Perugia, Italy and is the largest media event in Europe. It is an open invitation to listen to, learn from, and network with the best of world journalism.
The son of tragically murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia will be a speaker at this international festival, where he will be interviewed by former Head of Media for the Guardian Jane Martinson.
The pair will discuss investigative journalism and the repercussions of Paul’s mother’s tragic death.
“Journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia’s exposés on corruption in Malta led to her assassination. Her son Paul’s book, “A Death in Malta,” honors her legacy and the role of journalism in holding power to account. Both mother and son’s work uncovered the use of international finance to evade national laws,” the festival’s social media page wrote.
The event featuring the Maltese journalist will be held on 19th April and is entitled, “A life for journalism and justice”.
On the very same day, other impressive keynote speakers will be attending the festival, including Motaz Azaiza, a Palestinian photojournalist whose coverage of the war in Gaza captured worldwide attention.
He will talk to Committee to Protect Journalists CEO Jodie Ginsberg about “the 107 days he spent painstakingly documenting the horrors of war – and what he wants to achieve by bringing his message in person to those outside Gaza,” the event page revealed.
Another speaker is journalist Joshi Herrmann who launched The Mill in 2020, a digital newspaper which revolutionised local journalism with a subscription-based model.
