‘People Don’t Care For It’: Eddie Fresco Gives His Two Cents On Lack Of Support For Maltese Artists

Local rapper Eddie Fresco, who has made a name for himself outside of Malta’s shores, has given his two cents on how Malta tends to fail to support artists.
Writing on social media, he decided to address the topic circulating local discussions, on how Malta as a country fails to support local acts, artists, and musicians.
“It took me a while to fully understand and accept this, but I unfortunately believe that it is the truth: The reason why there isn’t any support on the islands; when it comes to art, music and more is because the majority of people don’t care for it,” he said.
“After making music for five to six years, reaching over 200,000 legit monthly listeners, I only have 700 monthly listeners from the land I grew up in.”
Meanwhile, Fresco gets as many as 58,000 monthly listeners from the United States.
“The island simply does not have enough people that care about you.”
“With every media outlet on the island writing about my latest music video, which I believe to be some of the highest quality I’ve seen from the island, we could barely hit 2,000 views from Malta,” he admitted.
“It simply is what it is. Hopefully the next generation can fix all this, but for now your best bet is…” he said, finishing off the sentence with some airplane emojis.
Meanwhile, Fresco has recently bought a one-way ticket to Prague, where he has been building connections and booking gigs for the last few years, with his recording studio being based there.
