PN Calls Protest For Tonight After Auditor General’s Report Confirms Historic Hospitals Sentence
The Nationalist Party has called a protest for tonight over recent developments in the Steward-Vitals hospitals deal, which was rendered fraudulent a few days back.
Making the call for people to join given Malta deserves better, the protest is set to commence tonight at 6pm in front of Malta’s Parliament.
“Malta deserves better. This needs to stop. Tonight, we meet in front of the parliament,” PN leader Bernard Grech wrote on Facebook.
“The biggest fraud our country has ever seen was initiated by Joseph Muscat and worsened under Robert Abela,” Adrian Delia wrote on Facebook.
“This has been confirmed by three reports from the Auditor General and a historic court judgment. Apart from 188 million euros in payments, the government squandered over €400,000,000.”
This comes after Former Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi was accused by the Auditor General of “misleading” the cabinet over a shady deal with Steward Healthcare that forced the government to pay €100 million if the hospitals contract was cancelled.
Auditor General Charles Deguara strongly condemned Mizzi’s actions, claiming that he “engineered” the side deal through his misleading of Malta’s Cabinet.
According to the latest National Audit Office report, control of the concession was centralised between then Prime Minister Joseph Muscat’s office and Mizzi, to the “detriment” of Health Minister Chris Fearne, who was left out of key decisions on the hospitals concession.
Will you be answering the PN’s call tonight?
