A letter circulated to heads of the public health clinics has asked that all religious symbols (such as crosses, holy pictures, statues etc…) be removed from the walls in all the public health centres (il-bereġ) across Malta and Gozo.

The reason given is that the health centres are a public entity, and should be considered to cater towards a multi-cultural society. The letter also stated that this change should be put into affect immediately, as reported by NET News.

Several people have been claiming that this is unfair, as it will bring to an end the tradition of bringing a santa to work with you to protect you.
